Gum Disease Increases Health Care Costs!
HP Booklet CoverThe Cost of Gum Disease
We already know that preventing gum disease can save at least 60% of all dental care costs, which amounted to nearly to  $100 billion in 2007. Thus $60 billion a year in could be saved.

But what we didn't know until recently is that gum disease significantly increases the cost of health care! In 2007 we spend over $2.2 TRILLION on health care. One recent study demonstrated that 21% of total health care costs could be saved by eliminating periodontal (gum) disease. That is a savings of nearly $500 billion dollars a year in health care costs.
How would you like to save 60% on dental care costs and 21% on medical care costs....over your lifetime?   Click Here to read more about the relationship of oral to overall health and the abstract of this study.
What does this mean for you? If you have gum disease you can no longer look at it as a dental problem . . . gum disease is also a medical problem and the ultimate cost to you will be far more than the cost of dental treatment! "You cannot be healthy without good oral health!!!"
What Can You Do to Prevent Gum Disease?
HP Booklet CoverImproving Your Oral and Overall Health
What can you do about it? Plenty!!! First I recommend my book on gum disease prevention, "Healthy Teeth-Healthy Body: How to Improve Your Oral and Overall Health". The book will teach you everything you need to know about gum disease and how to eliminate it . . . ultimately lowering your dental and medical costs! It also shows you how to utilize the dental hygienist to monitor and support your program.
I've also developed an Oral Hygiene Program Guide that shows you the best way to use my book to get the most out of your at-home hygiene program and the many ways it will benefit you. You can access the program guide by Clicking Here.
Finding a Dentist to Support Your Efforts
Learn about your Gums!
Once you have all the information you need to know about what your role and responsibility is; you'll need to make an appointment with a dentist and have your gums evaluated to determine the extent of your gum disease. If you don't now have one I recommend a mercury safe dentist from my directory . . .  Click Here to access the list. But most dental offices will be able to support your efforts to eliminate gum disease....
I know you must hear about taking good care of your teeth and gums from your dentist or the hygienist each time you visit the dental office. What you normally don't hear is the overall affect that poor oral hygiene has on the entire body and most of us don't realize that taking care of your teeth and gums will help reduce health care costs by 21% annually!
Unless you are free of dental disease, particularly gum disease, you can never be healthy!  Thus, you must be clear about this; the effect of gum disease on overall health is far more serious than its effect on your teeth. In fact, moderate to severe gum disease can actually reduce your life-expectancy.
If you are serious about improving your oral and overall health, increasing your life-expectancy and reducing dental and health care costs, you must commit to eliminating gum disease! In order to reduce your health care costs and increase your life expectancy, one must take good care of their oral health.
